2.                Arrive Amberley Museum.

Amberley Museum is unusually located in a former chalk quarry and various exhibits, indoors and out, tell the story of clay and chalk, and their many uses in bricks, cement, claypipes, ceramics, and agricultural lime. Other exhibits cover rural industries, from wood-turning and broom-making to printing and sign-writing. A two foot gauge railway runs around the 36 acre site and there are nature trails designed to explain typical chalkland flora and fauna.

3.                Depart Amberley Museum.

4.                Arrive Weald and Downland Open Air Museum.

Nearly 40 historic buildings from southern England, due for demolition, were rescued and re-erected in this museum, providing a unique resource for the architectural historian as well as a fascinating experience for adults and children. There are thatched cottages, farmhouses, barns, and shops. Rural crafts and industries are demonstrated in exhibits such as a working water mill and a reconstructed charcoal burner’s camp.
